Description:
The Chiles Pope Valley Road MPM 3.63 Culvert/Bridge Repair project is located by 3298 Chiles Pope Valley Road in St. Helena, CA (APN 025-240-034). At this location, Lower Chiles Creek traverses through a bridge at the intersection of Chiles Pope Valley Road and Lower Chiles Valley Road. The existing bridge is a 20.5-foot wide reinforced concrete T-Beam bridge; moreover, the western side of the bridge was later widened with a 16-foot wide box culvert. Both the bridge and culvert structures are single span and 12.5-feet long. Refer to the Plans for more information on the location of this project.
Napa County will be undertaking repairs to the existing culvert located at the intersection of Chiles Pope Valley Road and Lower Chiles Valley Road, which was damaged during the January 2023 storms. An emergency repair was previously completed, and this project will remove the temporary measures (i.e. rip rap, asphalt patch, etc.) installed during that time. The existing wingwalls will be removed and replaced with new wingwalls on each corner of the inlet and outlet. A new concrete slab will be installed upstream of the inlet and rock rip rap will be installed downstream of the outlet. Other improvements will include new concrete bridge barriers, guardrails, asphalt repairs, and minor striping. Napa County has obtained permits from the applicable agencies and the Contractor will be required to adhere to permitting requirements. As part of environmental mitigation, the project will include channel recontouring, planting, seeding, and mitigation monitoring. Construction is scheduled to begin on July 7, 2025.
The Contractor shall possess a Class “A” or “C-12” license at the time of contract award.
