Commander Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC), located at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD hereby gives notice of their intent to award a purchase order to TESCAN USA, Inc., 765 Commonwealth Drive, Suite 101 Warrendale, PA 15086-7520 (Cage Code: 0FX68) on a sole source basis in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(i), only one source reasonably available and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
FRC South West, NAS North Island has a requirement for repair and maintenance services on TESCAN Vega-3 Scanning Electron Microscope and its ancillary components. TESCAN USA, Inc. is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Electron microscope and its accompanying components. The OEM retains proprietary knowledge of the presently installed system (hardware and software) hence is the only known source capable of diagnosing and repairing the system to its pre-failure level of performance. The OEM holds the rights on the patent for the electron microscope that meets Government specific requirements. TESCAN USA, Inc. is the only known qualified source capable of satisfying the Government's specific requirements and mission for this procurement. For this reason, the government intends to procure these products on a sole source basis from TESCAN USA, Inc. (Cage Code: 0FX68).
THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which, if received within two (2) calendar days after the date of the publication of this synopsis, will be considered. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses received as a result of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
