APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders, and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing system, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions
The following Addendum is being issued for the subject Request for Quotation: 361287
Updated Evaluation Factor for technical requirement of
"Reflection direction: The mirror must be configured to reflect x-rays upward" to
"Reflection direction: The mirror must be configured to X-rays horizontally"
This Addendum modifies the Request for Quotation and must be acknowledged. Failure to acknowledge all addenda could make your proposal non-responsive. Please confirm that the submitted proposal is not changed because of this addendum. If proposal sent is revised because of this, please submit the revised proposal.
The following changes are hereby made to the appropriate documents contained the above-mentioned Request for Quotation (RFQ). All other terms and conditions of the RFQ remain the same.

Quote is for product only; no on-site services permitted.
Source selection will be based on Lowest Price and Technically Acceptable Method (LPTA).
Technical evaluation criteria are as follows:
Demonstration of the capability of fabricating X-ray optics
Demonstration of the capability of diagnosing X-ray optics quality
Combined Geometry
The mirror must integrate two optical shapes—an elliptical section and a hyperbolic section—within a single substrate.
Reflection Direction
The mirror must be configured to reflect X-rays upward
Substrate Dimensions
Length along the X-ray axis: 173.1 ± 0.5 mm
Width: 50 ± 0.3 mm
Thickness: 30 mm
Active Surface Area Compliance
A minimum area of 163.1 mm (length) × 5 mm (width) must meet all surface-figure error and roughness requirements
Sectional Lengths
Elliptical section: at least 85 mm (length) × 5 mm (width)
Hyperbolic section: at least 66.1 mm (length) × 5 mm (width)
Incidence Angle
The X-ray incidence angle shall be 5.9 mrad.
Figure Accuracy
Surface shape (figure) error must be ≤ 2 nm peak-to-valley (PV).
Surface Roughness
Surface roughness (×50 magnification) must be ≤ 0.3 nm RMS
Energy Cut-Off
The mirror must support a cut-off energy ≥ 11 keV
Certification
A certificate of compliance must be provided to verify that all requirements have been met.
