Notice of Intent to Award a Noncompetitive, Negotiated Contract for the Purchase of OEM Solenoid Valves and Pressure Switches

Project Description: The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a Government Transportation Special District within the State of California that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service and freight rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County within the State of California. SMART is issuing this Notice of Intent to award a non-competitive, negotiated purchase order to the Knorr Brake Company LLC for the purchase of Twenty-five (25) Solenoid Valves (Manufacturer Part #: 808272), Twenty-five (25) Solenoid Valves, 24 VDC (Manufacturer Part #: 808273) and Twelve (12) Solid State Pressure Switches (Manufacturer Part #s KP2483849-23, KP2483849-37) and 809775 ), because it is SMART’s understanding that the only available source to supply these Original Equipment Manufacturer parts is from the Knorr Brake Company, LLC
If upon review of this Notice, vendors or suppliers determine that they can legally supply these parts to SMART, SMART requests that those vendors or suppliers submit a response to this Notice of Intent. Any responses received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement rather than proceeding with this sole-source negotiated contract. This notice is not a request for competitive bids or proposals. Responses received will not be considered as bids, quotes, or proposals.
The deadline to submit a response to this Notice of Intent is by 2:00 p.m. (Pacific) June 8, 2026.
