NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC
MASON INLET MAINTENANCE PROJECT 2026-2027
New Hanover County is accepting sealed bids for the following project: Mason Inlet
Maintenance Project 2026-2027. The base bid work includes hydraulic dredging of
approximately 376,000 cubic yards of shoaled material from Mason Inlet, Mason Creek,
and the AIWW, with subsequent placement on the southern beachfront of Figure "8"
Island. An additional 75,300 cubic yards of dredging seaward of the COLREGS line is
also included as an optional bid item. Should the contractor have equipment capable of
performing the work. Bidding on the optional work is not a requirement. The work also
consists of shaping and grading the beach and monitoring environmental concerns.
Bid documents in Portable Document Format (.pdf) may be acquired from Gahagan &

inc.com. Complete sets of Bid Documents must be used in preparing Bids. New Hanover
County assumes no responsibility for errors or misrepresentations resulting from the use
of incomplete sets of Bid Documents. A pre-bid conference is scheduled for Wednesday
September 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the office of Gahagan and Bryant Associates located
at 295-A North Green Meadows, Wilmington, NC 28405. Attendance is recommended
but not mandatory.

Time is of the essence and any bid received after Wednesday September 23, 2026 at
3:00 PM (local time), whether by mail or otherwise, will be returned unopened. Bids shall
be placed in a sealed envelope, marked in the lower left-hand corner with the project title,
date, and hour bids are scheduled to be received. Bidders are responsible for ensuring
that their Bid is stamped by County personnel by the deadline indicated. Furthermore, the
County reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any and all technicalities
or informalities. Bids shall be publicly opened and read on September 23, 2026 at 3:00pm
in the New Hanover County Government Complex, GC Multipurpose Room 137, 230
Government Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
ENVELOPES CONTAINING BIDS MUST BE IDENTIFIED AS "Bid for Mason Inlet
Maintenance Project 2026-2027, Do Not Open". Bids shall be accompanied by a certified
check, cashier's check, U.S. Postal Money Order, or Bid Bond in an amount not less than
5% of Bid. All bidders must be pre-qualified for bidding on New Hanover County capital
