Data Center Sound Study

The City of Hutto is soliciting competitive sealed proposals (“CSP”) from qualified engineering firms, acoustical consultants, land use planners, and/or multidisciplinary teams with demonstrated expertise in data center design, environmental acoustics, mechanical systems, and municipal land use regulations to conduct a comprehensive study evaluating the anticipated noise impacts associated with modern data center development.

The purpose of this study is to assist the City in evaluating whether existing provisions of the City of Hutto Unified Development Code (“UDC”) adequately address emerging data center technologies and to provide recommendations regarding potential amendments, operational standards, and/or development regulations.

The selected consultant shall evaluate representative data center designs, compare anticipated operational noise levels generated by various building types and cooling technologies, and analyze compatibility with nearby residential development.
