Project Title: Campus -Wide IT and Security Infrastructure Upgrade
Description: This project involves a comprehensive technology infrastructure upgrade across six campus buildings: Jernigan, Student Services, Freeland, Freeman, Young, and Industrial Skills. The scope includes upgrading structured cabling, modernizing the existing camera system, implementing a new access control system, and installing a public address (PA) system to enhance communication and security across the campus. As part of the structured cabling upgrade, all existing Category 5 cabling will be removed and replaced with Category 6A cabling to support current and future high-speed network demands. This includes terminating and labelling all cable drops in accordance with industry standards, as well as testing and certifying each connection. A critical component of this upgrade is the cleanup and reorganization of networking closets in each of the six buildings. This will involve the removal of outdated equipment and cabling, the installation of modern patch panels and cable management systems, and proper documentation for ongoing maintenance. The camera system upgrade will replace the current analog surveillance infrastructure with a state-of-the-art IP-based solution. New IP cameras will be installed to provide full coverage of building entrances, hallways, parking lots, exterior perimeters, and other key areas. These cameras will be integrated into a centralized video management system, allowing for improved monitoring, recording, and retrieval of footage. The system will be configured and tested thoroughly, with appropriate training provided to campus security staff. To further enhance campus security, a modern access control system will be installed. This system will include electronic access points on all exterior doors across the six buildings, as well as internal office spaces within the Business Office and IT Department. The access control solution will consist of badge readers, control panels, and electronic locking mechanisms integrated with the existing or new security infrastructure. Staff will receive training on credential management and system use. Additionally, a new public address (PA) system will be installed to provide effective communication throughout the campus. The PA system will include speakers and amplifiers installed indoors—covering classrooms, hallways, and common areas—and outdoors in the courtyard and parking areas. This system will feature centralized control with zoning capabilities for targeted or building-wide announcements. System testing and training will be conducted to ensure proper use by designated personnel. Upon completion, the institution will benefit from enhanced network performance, increased campus security, and improved emergency and day-to-day communication capabilities. Deliverables will include fully upgraded structured cabling, a functioning IP camera surveillance system, an operational access control solution, a robust PA system, and updated network documentation. This project will be implemented in phases to minimize disruption and will include post-installation support as outlined in the final agreement.
