Ebbing Field requires a modernized communication system to support Aircraft Maintenance, Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS), Security, Fire, and multiple agencies. The current conventional system is outdated and inefficient, resulting in a significant increase in frequencies needed and unmanageable spectrum. The new system must provide a trunking-based solution that can manage frequencies effectively, reduce the number of frequencies needed, and integrate with existing infrastructure. The existing infrastructure consists of Motorola products.
