In December 2024, the United States Department of Transportation awarded the DEPARTMENT a Stage 1 Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grant for the Enhancing Corridor Communication Roadmap Project. This project will utilize automation, artificial intelligence, digitalization, connectivity, data standardization, and systems engineering to establish the data exchange capabilities that the Interstate 80 (I-80) Corridor Coalition can ultimately implement.
The I-80 Corridor Coalition is a multistate partnership involving eleven (11) state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), including California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The coalition works closely with additional state DOTs along the Interstate 35 (I-35), Interstate 15 (I-15), and Interstate 11 (I-11) corridors. It is focused on identifying data gaps, establishing data-sharing standards, and determining a data exchange capabilities system to facilitate information sharing across state lines and jurisdictional boundaries through standardized traveler information systems or a transformational layer. The outcome of the I-80 data exchange capability will look to facilitate data standardization when possible, data integration through transformational layers, support the expansion of digital infrastructure, and a system along the interstate corridor that provides states with easy accessibility to critical transportation data that can be used to enable states to make quicker and more strategic transportation-related decisions that improve safety, reliability, and system resiliency. |

| Project Scope: | The Nevada Department of Transportation (DEPARTMENT) has been awarded a Stage 1 SMART Grant to enhance data exchange capabilities for the I-80 Corridor Coalition, a partnership of eleven state departments of transportation focused on data standardization and sharing. The SERVICE PROVIDER will collaborate with the DEPARTMENT to carry out various tasks, including project management, stakeholder engagement, and the development of project deliverables, all aimed at improving strategic transportation decisions across state lines by utilizing automation, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure. The contract will run from the Notice to Proceed date until November 14, 2026. Key components include a virtual kickoff meeting, development of a Project Management Plan, and several stakeholder meetings. | ||||
