Description

This contract supports clinical research studies, including natural history studies at NIH-funded institutions. The purpose of this modification action is to add two-12-month option periods to contract #75N91020C00007 which ends on September 29, 2025. The proposed action will increase the total estimated contract value. There are two main objectives for additional option periods : The first is to organize and verify the vast amount of patient data collected over the last 30 years as a first step to the building of a database with broader accessibility to not only the patient data but to the published laboratory data on that patient while protecting all Personal Health Information. The second is to preserve the current Internal Review Board (IRB) approvals for patient tissue, blood, biofluids and epidemiologic profiles. The continuity of data ollection and database restructuring for case and control volunteer enrollees as well as patient follow up as needed will require that an IRB is in place and renewed annually as two medical institutions ( University of Maryland Medical Center and the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital).
