Description

The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) will be hosting an Industry Day 13-14 May 2026 at Eglin Air Force Base Florida!

DESCRIPTON:

The US Air Force, through the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division at Eglin AFB (AFNWC/NDB), plans to conduct an Industry Day event to inform potential offerors about the upcoming Nuclear Stores Interface Unit (NSIU). This event will serve as one of the activities used to solicit industry feedback and provide awareness of the program as the Government develops the NSIU production acquisition strategy and acquisition-related documentation.

The Industry Day event will be held in advance of any anticipated draft solicitation or Request for Proposal (RFP) release. Industry Day attendance is not mandatory, nor will it limit any member of Industry from participating in any resultant acquisition. The purpose of this announcement is for information and planning purposes only; it does not constitute a solicitation or an RFP nor is it a promise to issue such a solicitation or an RFP in the future.

BACKGROUND:

The NSIU is a follow-on production contract to the current and on-going Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD) effort. The EMD contract was awarded in 2022 and is currently due to complete EMD in early 2027.

REQUIREMENT:

The NSIU is a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) providing an electronic interface to allow communication between the aircraft platform and store. The NSIU is designed to update connections to meet current MIL-STD-1760 requirements and enhance nuclear hardness. AFNWC/NDB is looking for vendors with the capability to produce the NSIU to the provided specifications and quality standards as a build-to-print manufacturing effort, which will not require hardware installation.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Industry Day provides AFNWC/NDB an opportunity to communicate directly with interested vendors, outline government requirements and gain insight into the industries’ capabilities. During this industry day we will have briefings and Industry Engagements/One-on-Ones. The intent is to execute an in-person event.

The goal of this Industry Day is to provide potential offerors insight the program office’s expectations for NSIU production and receive feedback from industry on potential courses of action for the production effort which will feed the acquisition strategy put in place by AFNWC/NDB for this effort.

The Government anticipates the release of the solicitation in Q2 FY2027.

The Industry Day is free of charge and open to all businesses, small and large. Members of AFWNC will be present to meet one on one with Industry partners. Vendors are not required to participate in the Industry Day to submit a proposal but are highly encouraged to attend. Please note that all information given by the government during the Industry Day is subject to change and is not binding.

INDUSTRY DAY SPECIFICS:

NSIU Industry Days will be held from 13-14 May 2026 at 0900, at Eglin AFB, FL. The following agenda is being planned currently:

  1. Overview of NSIU mission and follow-on production requirement

  2. Contracting approaches under consideration

  3. Notional program schedule

  4. Wrap-up Question & Answer session

  5. Industry One-on-Ones

ONE on ONE DISCUSSION SPECIFICS:

30-minute time slots will be reserved for those members of Industry who desire to discuss the NSIU program with the Government, and provide briefings, demonstrations, expand on company strengths, capabilities (both current and near term i.e., 1-5 years), and potential approaches. Only one session per company will be allowed. The Government desires to learn more about Industry capabilities, thoughts, and strategies they would like to implement to achieve success.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

The Industry Day event will be held at the Unclassified, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) level. All attendees must be US-citizens and will be required to present some form of government‐issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license, Common Access Card, etc.) to enter Industry Day.

Vendors must pre-register no later than 29 April 2026 to attend the event. To pre-register, please contact the AFNWC/NDB Contracting Office:

Ms. Caroline Segovia: caroline.segovia@us.af.mil

Ms. Catherine Sadler: catherine.sadler@us.af.mil

Vendors must provide Ms. Segovia and Ms. Sadler with the following information no later than 1200 (EST), 29 April 2026:

  • POC E-mail address and telephone number

  • Social security numbers of POC and all other attendees to support Government confirmation of US citizenship.

Desire to schedule a one-on-one discussion session with AFNWC personnel (you will be notified of the confirmed time slot NLT 8 May 2026)

Attendance is limited to 3 members per company for Industry Day briefings and one-on-one sessions. No electronic devices will be allowed inside the facility; cell phones, etc, must be left in your vehicle or an alternate location.
