Analysis of Macroinvertebrate Samples

Sealed bids for C0000002 – Analysis of Macroinvertebrate Samples, will be received by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Fiscal Management, 625 Broadway, 10 ^th Floor, Albany, New York, 12233-5027, Attn: Justin Lennox, Bureau of Expenditure Accounting until the time of 11:00 A.M. (EST) on the date of Monday, October 6, 2025.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (Department) Monitoring and Assessment Section (MAS) collects benthic macroinvertebrate samples from rivers, streams, and lakes across the state, as part of the New York State Ambient Water Quality Monitoring Program. MAS collects samples from wadeable streams using a traveling kick or low gradient method and samples from large non-wadeable rivers using a Hester-Dendy artificial substrate sampler (multiplate) or a ponar dredge. MAS also collects samples from lake littoral zones using a kick method and ponar dredges. As a result, between 200-500 benthic macroinvertebrate samples per year need to be sorted and identified using the Standard Operating Procedure (e): “Biomonitoring Enumeration and Identification (NYSDEC SOP #214)”. Details on the exact methods required of the Proposer can be found in the SOP.
