Description

Statement of Work

Item: ENDODRY STORAGE AND DRYING SYSTEM

Introduction: The purpose of this document is to provide a statement of work (SOW), for the purchase of the endodry storage and drying system for use when reprocessing, drying, transporting, and storing endoscopes for endoscopy procedures.

VA Directive 1116 Management Of Critical And Semi-Critical Reuseable Medical Devices requires that facilities ensure that all semi-critical reuseable medical devices used for invasive procedures must have equipment available that meets the reprocessing guidelines as outlined by the manufacturer’s instruction for use.

This purchase will be for Sterile Processing Services of Network 15, KCVA Station #589.

Use of equipment: The equipment requested will be used by the Sterile Process Department staff for processing and safe handling of endoscopes.

Requirements: Sterile Processing Services (SPS) needs the following Endodry Storage and Drying system to meet the requirements set forth by VA Directive 1116 Management of Critical and Semi-Critical Reuseable Medical Devices and to adhere to the facility policies for standardized equipment to ensure compatibility for other existing equipment utilized in both SPS and Procedural Departments, as well as staff competency for all equipment used by procedural staff and processed by SPS. ANSI/AAMI ST91:2021 and AORN guidelines recommend unidirectional processing and separate work areas to help reduce the risk of cross-contamination after reprocessing. The ENDODRY Cabinet’s pass-thru model with two doors meets the latest. Recommendations.

Specifications: The endodry storage and drying system promotes efficient drying of internal lumens and external surfaces and provides protected storage of patient-ready endoscopes while minimalizing handling of endoscopes while meeting recommendations for unidirectional processing. This system also helps eliminate residual moisture and reduce microbial growth with the flow of instrument-grade compressed air. It maintains the status of a patient-ready endoscope for up to 31 days, increasing KCVA endoscope storage time frame by 19 days and decreasing overall staff workload while increasing veteran access. This system helps prevent cross contamination and reduce the potential for damage with ADVANTAGE Transport Cassettes that support transport through the reprocessing cycle with minimal handling.
