Description

1.0. Description of Services. The contractor will provide a comprehensive, in-person data center

design training course and certification program on-site at Davis-Monthan AFB (DMAFB), Azin support

of the 355th Civil Engineer Squadron (355 CES). The training must equip 355 CES personnel with the

knowledge and skills necessary to design, implement, and manage modern data center infrastructure

effectively.



2.0. Scope of Work. The contractor will provide all necessary resources, including certified

instructors, training materials, and equipment, to deliver a customized data center design training

program covering the following areas:



a. Data Center Fundamentals:

• Introduction to data centers and their importance

• Types of data centers and their applications

• Key industry standards and best practices (e.g., TIA-942, ASHRAE)



b. Data Center Infrastructure Design:

• Physical Infrastructure (building envelope, site requirements, prime generation

facilities)

• Prime and contingency power systems and distribution (UPS, generators, PDUs, prime

generation)

• Cooling systems and environmental contr. (CRAC, CRAH, server rack cooling, air flow

management)

• Physical security and access control

• Cabling infrastructure and network connectivity

• Fire suppression and safety systems



c. Data Center Capacity Planning and Scalability:

• Understanding IT load and capacity requirements

• Designing for future growth and expansion

• Power and cooling capacity planning



d. Data Center Efficiency and Sustainability:

• Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and other efficiency metrics

• Energy-efficient design principles and technologies

• Cooling optimization strategies



e. Data Center Management and Operations:

• Monitoring and managing data center infrastructure

• Capacity management and performance optimization

• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning



3.0. Training Deliverables. The contractor will deliver the following:



• Customized Training Curriculum: Tailored to the specific needs and requirements of Davis-Monthan AFB

• Comprehensive Training Materials: Including presentations, handouts, case studies, and practical exercises

• Hands-On Labs/Simulations/Case Studies: Providing practical experience with data center design concepts and technologies

• Industry-Recognized Certification Exam: Upon successful completion of the training, participants fully prepared to successfully pass an industry-recognized certification exam.



4.0. Training Schedule and Logistics

• Training Location: Davis-Monthan AFB, Bldg Room TBD

• Training Dates: 5 May – 9 May 2025 or 12 May – 16 May 2025

• Training Duration: 5 days

• Number of Participants: 8 – 10

• Training Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.



5.0. Contractor Requirements

• The contractor must have proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing data centers.

• Instructors must be certified and experienced in data center design best practices.

• The contractor must provide all necessary training equipment and materials.

• The contractor must comply with all applicable Davis-Monthan AFB security regulations and procedures and be able to obtain temporary base privilege pass.





6.0. Training Goals. The training goals are as follows:

• All students successfully complete the training program.

• All students pass the industry-recognized certification exam.

• The training program receives positive feedback from students
