Description

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) announces the award of Contract # 70Z02325C93260001 for the Commercially Available Polar Icebreaker (CAPI) Project. This contract has been awarded to Offshore Service Vessels, LLC, headquartered in Cut Off, Louisiana.

Scope of Work:



This contract covers the acquisition, reactivation, and operational readiness of the M/V Aiviq, a commercially available polar icebreaker. The primary objectives include:




  • Full vessel reactivation, including required sea trials and crew training.

  • Application of vessel markings and coatings in compliance with contract specifications.

  • Achieving ABS certification within the specified timeline.

  • Operational testing, including temporary berthing solutions.



Strategic Importance:



This contract supports the USCG’s mission to enhance Arctic operational capabilities, ensuring readiness to meet evolving demands in polar regions. The M/V Aiviq will significantly contribute to national security and polar mission readiness.
