Asset Assessment Pilot Study

Project Description: The stormwater system owned and/or maintained by the City of Sandy Springs includes ~5,309 conduits (pipes, open drainage, etc.) with total linear feet of 366,572.5 (69.4 Miles) and ~4,742 structures for a total of ~10,051 assets. The assets are spread over 38.52 square miles and divided into 6 stormwater basins. The City is seeking to complete an assessment (focusing on asset condition, siltation, and maintenance needs) with appropriate quality control for roughly ~20% of that inventory on an accelerated timetable.
Purpose: The assets owned and/or maintained by the City have many characteristics associated with them but not limited to; age, material and size, soil conditions and locations. This breadth of information has made it challenging for the City to accurately gauge the current and future conditions of these assets. An evaluation of these assets would help the City prioritize maintenance more efficiently and cost effectively.
Project Area Description: The study area for this pilot will include 7 locations within the City containing assets with a wide range of the mentioned characteristics above.
