FireSmart Implementation Services - South West Area Provincial Parks

The Parks Division is seeking a contractor(s) to implement FireSmart prescriptions for parks within the South West region of the province. Wildfires are an issue and require a proactive approach to reducing fire risk and potential impacts on park lands and assets.

FireSmart activities in provincial parks involves managing vegetation and implementing fire-resistant landscaping practices to reduce wildfire risk and enhance site and space resilience. FireSmart principles focus on intentionally removing or reducing flammable materials and vegetation, both natural and cultivated. This minimizes potential fuel sources, lowers wildfire intensity and decreases overall risk to park assets. The aim of this project is to reduce the rate of spread on lands surrounding campground and day use facilities, in order to protect life, structures and other infrastructure. The work includes ground truthing of proposed actions and the implementation of selective thinning, pruning, and dead/down cleanup by hand crews.

Services, as defined in Appendix B, will include all the tasks and oversight required to complete this implementation.
