Technical Support to the San Francisco International Airport/ Community Roundtable

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco but is located entirely within San Mateo County. The San Francisco International Airport Community Roundtable (Roundtable) was established in 1981 through a Memorandum of Understanding as a forum of elected officials representing communities in San Mateo County and the City and County of San Francisco that are impacted by aircraft operations at SFO.

The Roundtable serves as a forum to address aircraft noise concerns and advocate for policies, operational practices, and technologies that reduce noise impacts on surrounding communities. The Roundtable works with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), San Francisco International Airport, airline operators, local jurisdictions, and community stakeholders to review aircraft operations, evaluate flight procedures, and explore potential noise mitigation strategies.

The County of San Mateo provides administrative support to the Roundtable through the Roundtable Coordinator. The consultant selected through this Request for Proposals will provide independent aviation technical expertise to assist the Roundtable in evaluating aircraft noise issues, reviewing aviation operational data, assessing potential procedural changes, and supporting the Roundtable’s annual work program.
