REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) System Installation, Integration, and Support Services 1. Purpose: In accordance with 48 CFR § 52.215-3 - Request for Information. - WMATA does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI - or to pay for the information requested - Responses to this RFI are voluntary and will be treated as ¿INFORMATION ONLY¿. The purpose of this RFI is to gather information from qualified vendors with experience in the design, installation, integration, and maintenance of Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) systems. WMATA seeks to understand market capabilities, technical approaches, and potential cost drivers to inform future procurement strategies. 2. Background: WMATA is planning to modernize its rail transit infrastructure by implementing CBTC technology to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. CBTC systems use continuous, high-resolution train location data and wireless communications to manage train movements and optimize headways. This RFI seeks to identify vendors capable of delivering turnkey CBTC solutions or components thereof, including but not limited to: - System design and engineering - Installation and integration with existing infrastructure - Testing and commissioning - Operations and maintenance support - Cybersecurity and system resilience 3.
