Additional Instructions
The Town of Betterton owns and maintains a pedestrian footbridge located along Bayside Boulevard that provides pedestrian access within the Town’s waterfront area and is used by both residents and visitors.
The footbridge steel structure was recently inspected and determined to be in sound structural condition. However, due to age and long-term exposure to a coastal environment, the existing protective coating system has deteriorated and requires rehabilitation to prevent future corrosion. In addition, the existing wooden decking has reached the end of its service life and requires replacement.
The primary purpose of this solicitation is to obtain the services of a qualified contractor to perform proper surface preparation and application of a protective coating system on the existing steel structure. Work will also include removal and replacement of the existing wood decking and associated hardware.
This project is intended to preserve and protect the existing structure through preventive maintenance and rehabilitation. No major structural repairs or modifications are anticipated as part of this contract.
