Description
This project pertains to the University Hospital of Northern BC, a healthcare facility operated by Northern Health, located in 1475 Edmonton St, Prince George, BC. The facility includes a Histology Laboratory and an Operating Room, which provide critical diagnostic and surgical support services. In order to maintain a safe and compliant work environment, Northern Health is seeking to upgrade the ventilation and exhaust systems in specific laboratory areas.
The primary objective of this project is to reduce staff exposure to hazardous chemicals—specifically formalin (formaldehyde), ethylbenzene, and toluene—within the Histology Laboratory. The upgrades must ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC standards and aim to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). This will be achieved through improvements to existing ventilation systems, installation of specialized equipment, and enhancements to the general laboratory infrastructure.
