Patient Transfer Services
Synopsis:
The goal of this RFP is to provide safe and high-quality delivery of non-medical patient transport for individuals requiring transfer between SHA facilities, to a SHA facility, or transfer from a SHA facility to their home. Non-medical patient transport is an essential service for individuals who do not require provision of medical interventions, assessment, and/or monitoring during transport. Appropriate transportation service selection supports patient safety and efficient care transitions, allowing individuals to receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place across the province of Saskatchewan. The SHA is seeking qualified vendors to provide non-medical transportation in alignment with 3 standardized service types, determined by ambulation level, equipment requirements, and level of assistance required during transport. Standard transport requirements and delivery will increase patient safety, improve patient flow throughout the healthcare system, and increase Emergency Medical Services (EMS) capacity for emergent medical transportation and care. Key quality factors for service providers include:
• Established safety standards and protocols
• Equitable access to non-medical transport across the province
• Priority service for SHA patients and families
• Reduced wait times for interfacility transfers
• Preferred rate regardless of payer, whether SHA, patient, or third-party funding
