Title: West Beach Pier Rehabilitation and Improvements
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 10/16/2025
Due Date: 11/20/2025
The City of Clermont is undertaking the renovation of the West Beach Pier, located at 215 12th Street, which sustained damage during Hurricane Milton. The project will rehabilitate the existing pier structure to restore safe public access, improve durability against future storm events, and enhance the overall amenities of the park. The estimated cost of construction is $100,000.
The renovation will include the removal and replacement of the existing wood decking with storm-resistant Thru-Flow decking or an approved equal, the construction of new guardrails around the entire perimeter, and the installation of additional cross bracing for structural reinforcement. The contractor will inspect all pilings and wood members, replacing any damaged components as required, and will repair structural deficiencies at the pier’s intersection points. All incidental hardware, including hangers, brackets, screws, and bolts, will be provided and installed to complete the work.
The project also requires strict debris containment and disposal measures to protect the water and the surrounding environment. Contractors must prevent debris from entering the lake, remove and properly dispose of waste daily, and transport all demolition materials to approved facilities. Construction fencing will be installed to secure the site, and daily cleanup will ensure the work area remains safe and orderly throughout the project.
The selected contractor must be properly licensed in Florida, demonstrate at least five years of relevant experience (preferably with municipal clients), and provide proof of insurance. The contractor is also responsible for securing all necessary permits and approvals prior to construction.
Upon completion, the renovated pier will be inspected and reviewed by City staff to ensure compliance with all specifications and standards. Final acceptance will occur once all work is complete, the site has been thoroughly cleaned, and any required corrective actions have been addressed.
