Project Description: The Maricopa Community College District, on behalf or Mesa Community College, wishes to construct a New Welding Facility of approximately 30,000 square-foot with state-of-the-art technology and safety features. It also involves programmatic enhancements, such as advanced training in pipe welding and welding fabrication, to align with industry demands. The project integrates a social cause by championing suicide awareness through the 'See Something, Say Something' ethos. Philanthropic support and strategic partnerships with industry leaders will facilitate the project's success, ensuring a transformative impact on workforce training and education in welding technology.
A pre-proposal meeting will be held for all interested consultants at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Room LB-145 of the Library Building, at Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona. This is NOT a Mandatory Meeting, but Site Tour of both the New Building Site, as well as the Existing Welding Facility will follow. The sign sheets will be posted on the Purchasing website following the meeting.
The Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) will begin with the firm in an agency support role for design phase services and will hold the construction contract with the District for construction of the project. At some point prior to construction, the CMAR will assume the risk of delivering the project through a guaranteed maximum price contract. The CMAR will be responsible for construction means and methods, and will be required to solicit bids from pre-qualified subcontractors to perform the work. The CMAR also may compete to self-perform limited amounts of work.
The District strongly supports the concepts of teamwork and Partnering. Your voluntary participation in this effort will promote teamwork, minimize confrontation and hopefully eliminate the need for litigation or claims, with all stakeholders finishing the jobs a winner.
