Event Description

This is RFP is issued to contract with mentors for the South
Dakota Interpreter Mentoring Program (IMP).
The IMP aims to develop and support interpreters by providing structured
mentoring to promote national certification and ensure high-quality
interpreting services statewide. The program serves South Dakota residents and
those within 50 miles of its border who are registered or intend to register
with the state. Mentors must meet specific qualifications, submit required
documentation, complete continuing education, and attend annual trainings and
biannual meetings. Mentees must apply through the Division of Rehabilitation
Services (DRS) and demonstrate potential for certification or skill
advancement. Based on their status, mentees are assigned a priority level that determines
mentoring hours and duration. Mentor-mentee pairs complete an assessment
outlining goals and plans, which must be approved by DRS. Mentors are required
to submit monthly invoices, quarterly progress reports, and in some cases,
final reports. Services must follow approved plans, and compensation depends on
funding availability. Oversight is provided by DRS to ensure compliance, with
misuse or underutilization potentially affecting program eligibility.
