The CPUC helps Californians in the language of their choice, using Commission staff when available. In many instances, no staff member speaks the requested language, or the staff member is not available. In these instances, which are frequent, the CPUC utilizes a language telephone line service to provide interpretation while the caller is still on the phone with CPUC staff members. This contract is one of the resources the CPUC uses to comply with State Law mandates of the Dymally-Alatorre Bilingual Services Act, to be used when no staff member is available, or no staff member speaks the requested language. The CPUC is committed to ensuring all its programs and services are accessible to all California residents, including non- or Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.
