The City of Cambridge is soliciting proposals for contractor services to conduct work on an as-needed basis. The city has an accelerated abatement process to remove nuisance violations from properties. The typical scope of work includes, but is not limited to, removal of junk or debris defined by city code, securing windows or doors of unsecured structures, painting over graffiti, and mowing properties with tall grass.
The contractor should be able to provide all of the services listed above and respond to the city’s request within 72 hours of notice from the city. When conducting an abatement, the contractor shall post a notice on the primary structure called “Notice of Abatement.” Copies will be provided, and the contractor is to inform city staff when they need more copies of this notice.
The contractor shall notify city staff when the project is complete, so that city staff can inspect the work to assure it is done to a satisfactory level prior to payment by the City.
The Contractor must submit a detailed billing statement within 30 days of the abatement. The billing statement shall list the address of abatement, type of abatement, date of abatement, and cost billed by abatement contractor. Any additional dump/landfill fees for debris or hazardous waste will be required to be billed to the city with a receipt. If the billing statement is not submitted within 30 days of the abatement, then the contractor voids their right to receive payment. The City must pay the abatement contractor the full balance of all charges incurred within 30 days of receiving the billing statement.
Additionally, Contractor shall complete illicit discharge training upon request of the City.
Contract period: July 2026 – June 2027
Proposals must include name of company, a contact person, address, phone number, and e-mail address. A detailed company profile including the equipment available to remove the items listed in the scope of work is required. Contractors shall fill-in-the-blanks in the attached page .
Once the contractor is selected, they must provide the City with a Certificate of Insurance for liability insurance in the amount of the $1,000,000 for all claims and name the City as an additional insured.
No public opening will be held for proposals submitted.
Proposals must be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on June 9, 2026 and submitted to:
