Description

This request is for a Seamstress at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Firm-Fixed Price base contract plus 4 option years. Seamstress is required to provide seamstress service and uniform issuance services for the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center (TVAMC) Textile Care Processing Facility. Bidder is responsible for providing uninterrupted service. The Medical Center would require the person selected to be at our facility three days a week. 16 hours/week (2 days/week @8 hours/day) Option years for 8 hours/week (1 day/week @8 hours/day).



Skills and services required are: repairing uniforms, hemming, lengthening pants, sewing buttons, applying patches, etc. Performing appropriate repairs to linen items, Making alterations and repairs to government owned uniforms (replacing buttons, zippers; lengthening, shortening pants, etc.) and patient clothing. Issuing government-owned uniforms from computer-generated work orders. Advising Textile Care Supervisors of uniforms that need to be ordered. Inspecting clean linen that has been placed in FWT (fair, wear, and tear) cart for items that can be repaired or discarded to be recycled. Preparing FWT carts for transportation back to Textile Care Plant (Laundry). Inventory control of government owned uniforms. Preparing FWT reports monthly for Laundry Plant Manager. Participating in Tuscaloosa VA Textile Care Plant annual linen inventory.
