Overview

King Conservation District (KCD) is excited to announce the launch of our Value Chain Coordination Strategic Initiative!

This new Regional Food System Strategic Initiative aims to strengthen local food value chains in order to improve farm viability, expand market opportunity, increase local procurement, and ultimately build a more resilient regional food system. This specifically addresses goals identified in the 2025 King County Local Food Initiative (LFI) , which calls for investments in value chain coordinators, network facilitators, and local procurement specialists who can strengthen relationships among producers, buyers, distributors, processors, and community organizations while helping remove barriers that limit local food sales (Objective 3.1).

King Conservation District is seeking the services of a qualified consultant or team of consultants to lead and manage a comprehensive local food value chain coordination program in King County.

Funding and Period of Performance

The initiative is supported by up to $150,000 per year in funding. Initial proposals should be for a one-year period of performance. Awarded proposals may be renewed for a total of five consecutive years at KCD’s discretion, considering funding availability and satisfactory performance.
