Summary

** 5BG1 Funded** MSA gas monitors needed for the OFA to teach firefighting, hazmat, and confined space classes per the new NFPA 1010 standard. We are looking for someone to provide, install, deliver and train a MSA Altair 5X/PID and MSA Altair 4XR gas monitors, charging stations, and calibration stations to support NFPA 1010 compliant training at the Ohio Fire Academy. The equipment must support classes in Firefighting, HazMat (Operations & Technician), and Confined Space entry. Please see the attached quote and scope of work. The cost of this project should not exceed $40,000. This has already been cleared and budgeted with Tonya Smithers as a line item. We would like to receive these items by the first week in December so our team can train on them and prepare for the upcoming Firefighter course in February 2027. Provide, install, train, and deliver the needed MSA Altair 5X/PID and MSA Altair 4XR gas monitors, charging stations, and calibration stations to support NFPA 1010-compliant training at the Ohio Fire Academy (OFA). Equipment must support classes in Firefighting, HazMat (Operations & Technician), and Confined Space entry.

All equipment must meet or exceed the following NFPA 1010 requirements:

JPR 6.3.21 – Firefighters demonstrate competency with gas meters in real‑time use [themeterguys.org], [hazmatnation.com]

Adequate training tools (real alarms, readings) to build required proficiency (“automatic and integrated use” emphasized) [hazmatnation.com], [hazmatnation.com]

VOC detection capability (PID sensor) is required for HazMat classes under NFPA 1010 hazardous atmosphere protocols

Calibration and charging protocols must support documented readiness, per NFPA 1010 standards

Itemized Quote.  The quote shall be itemized and include the following: estimated shipping, company name, contact information, including name, phone number and email to which COM should remit the purchase order.Nothing herein guarantees that the quote will be accepted by Commerce.

Current State Contract or Agreement.  If the products and/or services are currently contracted under a Department of Administrative Services (“DAS”) Contract, State Term Schedule (“STS”), Master Maintenance Agreement (“MMA”) or Master Cloud Services Agreement (“MCSA”), provide the contract number and confirm your quote pricing matches what is listed in the pricing section of the DAS contract.
