Hale Park Mural Project

THE COMPLETE RFP CAN BE FOUND HERE: CALL FOR ARTISTS - REQUESTS FOR PROPOSALS HALE PARK MURAL PROJECT (pdf)

The City of Wenatchee is seeking an artist or team of artists to create a mural on the face of the new Clark Pedestrian Bridge ramp in Hale Park in Wenatchee. Hale Park is located at 720 South Worthen Street. A map and building photos are attached at the end of this document.

GENERAL INFORMATION/PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The goal of the project is to create a mural on the eastern face of the triangle-shaped bridge ramp in Hale Park. The wall is approximately 9 feet tall at the high end and 164 feet long (measurements to be verified by the artist). Hale Park is located between the Burlington Northern Railroad and the Columbia River. The park features a dog off-leash area, skate park, picnic shelter, and children’s play equipment. The Clark Bridge was the first bridge that spanned the Columbia River and is part of the ten-mile Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail. The mural should be representative of the park, Wenatchee, and the Wenatchee Valley. Some possible design themes could include neighborhood identifiers (i.e. Hale Park features), river aquaculture, landscaping for pollinators, outdoor recreation, Wenatchee, or others. Abstract designs are also allowed. The murals must be suitable for public viewing by all ages.

The design should take into consideration ease of maintenance and resistance to vandalism. The wall is a mix of concrete and rough-textured, unfinished concrete block. It has been a target for graffiti. A primer coat and anti-graffiti coating are required for the mural.

The park is currently an active construction site. The ramp location may be viewed from the park’s skatepark on Fridays through Sundays. It is highly recommended that artists that are interested in the project visit the site.

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE:
The following is the preliminary schedule for the project and is subject to change. Changes to the final installation deadline will be at the mutual agreement of the artist and the City of Wenatchee and may be subject to change. The ideal completion would be prior to October 15, 2026.
