Description
National Research Council of Canada has a requirement for the supply of one ultramicrotome sample preparation system to support the characterization of sample materials via scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis methods including energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) or any other characterization method, for the non-exhaustive applications of electro-catalysis, battery materials, supercapacitor materials, and sorbent materials for carbon dioxide storage.
An ultramicrotome is a sample preparation instrument that uses precision cutting blade to remove ultrathin sections from a prepared sample material. The sample is held in place and the blade is programmed to automatically slice sections from the sample using parameters set using a computer-controlled user interface. The thickness of the sections can be varied to suit the requirements of the characterization. The blade of the instrument can section samples regardless of their material.
