Request for Proposals
Tree Maintenance Contract

The City of Davis, Department of Public Works Utilities and Operations is soliciting proposals to provide tree maintenance services, including pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, and other tree care services, on an as-needed basis.

In response to the Request for Proposals, the City anticipates receiving competitive pricing as well as an assurance of quality services. The City intends to award one contract; however, it may choose to award additional contracts as the City deems necessary to meet the City's needs.

The City of Davis has approximately 30,000 public trees located in the city’s parks, greenbelts and right-of-way. Approximately a third of the city’s trees are located in an easement in private front yards. Tree pruning and maintenance are routinely performed by Urban Forestry’s contractor as well as internal staff. In order to continue to maintain the city’s urban tree canopy efficiently, it is necessary to rely on contracted services for the maintenance and removal of our most mature trees.  This allows for more flexibility with the Urban Forestry staff and provides the most cost efficient/quality service for City residents; Public Works Utilities and Operations is seeking to select a contractor to continue to provide these services. The current contract with West Coast Arborists expired on June 30, 2025, however the contract has been extended to December 31, 2025 for the purposes of this procurement process.

This contract will be awarded as a 2-year agreement, with the potential for two two-year extensions at the decision of the City, for a potential of six years total.
