Description

The overall project encompasses three phases of work with some phases potentially
overlapping. The scope of work for each phase may include but not be limited to:
¿ Façade Stabilization involves the stabilization of the historic front building façade at
117 E. Solomon Street in Griffin, Georgia. The General Contractor shall provide
limited destructive survey to assist the design team in preparing documentation
showing demolition intent and performance criteria for the building stabilization.
¿ Demolition Services will occur after the façade stabilization process has begun and
will provide demolition services for the remainder of the building behind the 117 E.
Solomon façade. This will also include shoring and other measures to stabilize the
masonry demising walls between 117 and the adjacent structures at 113 and 119
E. Solomon Street. The interior debris on the first and second floor will be removed
through the rear entry. The work will also include removal of the debris at the first
and second floors. The goal is to allow work installed during the stabilization
process to be part of the permanent solution and avoid temporary work if possible.
The scope may also include preconstruction services to assist the design team in
budgeting for the rebuild of 117 and future renovation of 119, the existing County
Annex offices.
¿ The County reserves the right to retain the selected General Contractor for
preconstruction services with recommendations to the County and design team to
encourage quality and efficiency. This scope of work would involve new building
construction in the 117 E. Solomon space so the existing 119 Annex can remain
functional during this time. Once the new construction in the 117 space is complete,
County staff can relocate to the new construction so the renovation of the 119
Annex space may begin. The work in the 119 Annex will be phased to allow the
Board of Commissioners to continue conducting business in the space.
