The City of Big Rapids will accept sealed bids for the 2026 Resurfacing Project until 3:00 p.m. local time, Monday, March 30, 2026, in the Treasurer’s Office, 226 North Michigan Avenue, Big Rapids, MI 49307. Sealed Bids will be opened at that time.
Specifications may be obtained at the Public Works office in City Hall or on the City's website at www.cityofbr.org. All proposals shall be clearly marked "BID FOR 2026 Resurfacing Project." The City of Big Rapids reserves the right to accept or reject all or any bids or to waive informalities, and to award t he bid in any manner deemed to be in the best interest of the City.

2026 Resurfacing Project
The City of Big Rapids will accept sealed bids for the 2026 Resurfacing Project until 3:00
p.m. local time, Monday March 30, 2026 - in the Treasurer's Office, 226 North Michigan Avenue,
Big Rapids, MI 49307. Sealed Bids will be opened at that time.
Specifications may be obtained at the Public Works office in City Hall or the City website at
www.cityofbr.org
All proposals shall be clearly marked "BID FOR 2026 Resurfacing Project". The City of
Big Rapids reserves the right to accept or reject all or any bids or to waive informalities, and to award
the bid in any manner deemed to be in the best interest of the City.

1,250 Tons HMA in City of Big Rapids, MI
North 4th Street:
From Baldwin Street to North End Park Entrance., 7,700 SY Crush and Shape and
867 t of HMA at 2", in City of Big Rapids, MI
Disc Golf Pavillion Parking Lot:
Near the North End Park entrance on N. 4th St., Strip 360 Sy of topsoil, Grade to
stakes, place 360 Sy of 6" gravel, and pave 60t at 3" of HMA. In 2 lifts, in City of
Big Rapids, MI
800, 900 Bjornson St.:
Between Milton Ave. and Speer Ave., 3135 SY-2" Milling and 350 t HMA at 2", in
City of Big Rapids, MI
2 Spots at Roben Hood Airport on 18-mile Rd: 370 SY 4" milling, 90 tons - 2-2" layers,
Along T-Hangar, and along a joint by the Fuel Depot
Riverwalk Trail - South end
Beginning at the Riverwalk Trail parking lot, going East to the fishing platform,
and along the East side of the soccer field to the bottom of the hill, 1775 SY Crush
and shape, 200 tons HMA at 2" thick. Trail is 10 ft. wide.
200 N Michigan Ave Parking Lot
Beginning at Mitchell Creek Court and Horizon Bank, then continuing North to and
around Bernies Doughnuts, and 209 N. Michigan, 5,295 SY 2" milling, 585 t HMA.

PAY ITEM DEFINITIONS:
Item 1. Cold Mill HMA Pavement: Measured and paid for by the unit area to cold mill the HMA
surface to the depth specified.
Item 2. Pulverize HMA Pavement: Measured and paid for by the unit area to pulverize the HMA
surface to the depth specified. Includes Grading and compacting pulverized material prior to
paving.
Item 3. Cold Milling HMA - Parking Lot: Measured and paid for by the unit area to cold mill the
HMA surface to the depth specified, in a parking lot.
Item 4. HMA, 4EL Parking Lot: Measured and paid by the unit weight by tallying load tickets for
placed and compacted MHA. Submit load tickets to ENGINEER at time of HMA delivery.
Report all weigh-backs to the ENGINEER promptly following the paving operation. Payment
shall include all HMA laid within a parking lot.
Item 5. Dr Structure Cover, Adj, Case 2: Each existing adjusted structure cover shall be paid for
individually. Adjustment of covers on proposed structures is included in the proposed structure
item. No additional payment will be made for temporary lowering existing covers. If, after
construction, the adjusted cover does not meet specified tolerances relative to finished grade, it
shall be readjusted at no additional cost.
Item 6. Adjust Valve Box: Each existing adjusted valve box shall be paid for individually. If, after
construction, a valve wrench cannot be used to operate the valve, the contractor shall readjust
the box at no additional cost. Adjustment of valve boxes on proposed valves is included in the
proposed valve item. No additional payment will be made for temporary lowering existing valve
boxes prior to paving operations.
Item 7. Disc Golf Pavillion Parking Lot Prep: Measured and paid by Lump Sum, Strip topsoil,
grade and compact existing ground, add 6" of gravel, or salvaged RAP from 4th St. to match 2"-
3" above existing grade. HMA to be paid as HMA 4EL Parking Lot. Spread salvaged topsoil.
City will Seed and mulch.
Item 8. HMA, 4EL: Measured and paid by the unit weight by tallying load tickets for placed and
compacted MHA. Submit load tickets to ENGINEER at time of HMA delivery. Report all weigh-
backs to the ENGINEER promptly following the paving operation. Payment shall include road
mainline, intersection approaches, and miscellaneous asphalt handwork. HMA used in Parking
Lots will be paid for under HMA 4EL Parking Lot.
