The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) intends to enter a onetime agreement with Qiagen LLC to purchase Qiagen QIAseq DIRECT sequencing kits, enhancer and booster reagents necessary for sequencing SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater samples. It was determined after multiple experiments and working under the guidance from the CDC and NWSS Center of excellence laboratories – WSLH and CO; these Qiagen QIAseq kits are the only ones that have produced reportable results with genome coverage well above the minimum genome coverage threshold.
This has been deemed a single source as Qiagen LLC is the sole proprietor of the Qiagen QIAseq DIRECT sequencing kits, enhancer and booster reagents. Qiagen LLC doesn’t have any authorized distributors.
