SECTION 01 11 00 - DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
A. The proposed project consists of
Yard piping as shown on the Treatment Plant Improvements - Phase 1D
Proposed Phase Upgrade - Piping Network Drawings (Drawings) dated Septber 28,
2026. The Drawings, which are listed on Table 1, and these Specifications are the
Contract Documents.
Table 1 List of Drawings
The Limits of Work start at the WWTP foundation wall and end at 2 feet into the interior of the
various tanks' pipe sleeve connection.
B. Schedule
All work is to be completed within six (6) weeks of contract authorization.

SECTION 01 20 00 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT & BID FORM
PART 1 - GENERAL
The following section describes the measurement of and payment for the work to be done per the
Contract Documents and the Contractor's Bid using the Form in Item 2 of this Section. The
Contractor agrees to perform the work associated with the Drawings and these Specifications for
the lump sum price indicated on the Bid Form.
The lump sum price stated in the Bid shall constitute full compensation as herein specified for the
work completed in accordance with the Contract Drawings and Specifications.
For the price submitted, furnish all labor, materials, tools, and equipment, and perform all
operations necessary to complete all work as indicated, specified, or directed by the Engineer,
and not included for payment under any other bid item. All supervision, overhead items, protection
and precautions, and all other costs associated with and incidental to the construction work are
included.
Measurement for payment shall be as proposed by Contractor and approved by the Engineer and
shall be on the basis of percentage of work complete, and in place, including all associated
incidentals and clean-up.
The lump sum price shall include compensation for storage and/or disposal of demolished
equipment and materials, surplus excavated material, as directed by the Engineer, and installation
of all necessary sheeting and bracing. The lump sum price shall constitute full compensation for
furnishing, laying, jointing, and testing of pipe; excavation, pipe bedding and backfill; all
associated electrical, site restoration, dewatering as needed and clean-up.
Contractor is responsible for obtaining all permits required for the work covered by the Drawings
and these specifications and paying their associated application fees. Contractor is responsible
for complying with all requirements governing the construction of the Work including, but not
limited to, the requirements of the National Electric Code, OSHA and any other applicable
regulatory agency.
The Contractor shall acquaint himself/herself with all work associated with each payment item
and shall have no claim for additional compensation due to his/her unfamiliarity with the
requirements of the work.
ITEM 1 - Furnish Yard Piping
The payment for Item 1 shall be based on the percent complete as proposed by the Contractor
and approved by the Engineer.
The lump sum price for Item 1 shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following, as
shown on the Drawings and described in these specifications:
* Supply all the piping and required appurtenances for a complete Yard Piping installation
as shown on the Drawings.

ITEM 2 - Install Yard Piping
The payment for Item 2 shall be based on the percent complete as proposed by the Contractor
and approved by the Engineer.
The lump sum price for Item 2 shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following, as
shown on the Drawings and described in these specifications:
* Install all yard piping and required appurtenances, bedding soil excavation and backfill,
for a complete Yard Piping installation as shown on and described in the Contract
Documents
The lump sum price also includes any other incidental items and tasks necessary to fully
complete the work under this item.
ITEM 3 - Furnish and Install WWTP Wall Penetration, Pipe Sleeve and Piping Inside the
WWTP
The payment for Item 3 shall be based on the percent complete as proposed by the Contractor
and approved by the Engineer.
The lump sum price for Item 3 shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following, as
shown on the Drawings and described in these specifications:
* Core through the WWTP exterior wall; furnish and install a Pipe Sleeve as shown on the
Drawings. Install piping in the interior of the WWTP for eight feet above the wall
penetration.
The lump sum price also includes any other incidental items and tasks necessary to fully
complete the work under this item.
ITEM 4 - Mobilization, Demobilization & Site Restoration
The payment for Item 4 shall be based on the percent complete as proposed by the Contractor
and approved by the Engineer.
The lump sum price for Item 4 shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following, as
shown on the Drawings and described in these specifications:
The Owner (Town of Holliston, MA) reserves the right to delete MEASUREMENT AND
PAYMENT ITEMS that are in its best interest.

SECTION 01 57 13 - TEMPORARY EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
A. Perform work on temporary and permanent vegetation cover at the construction site
and all areas disturbed during construction, including borrow areas.
B. Comply with all local Conservation District Laws, Rules and Regulations and all other
Federal, State and local requirements for erosion and sedimentation control
C. Place and maintain sediment and erosion control structures.
D. Remove accumulated sediment from all structures at the completion of construction
work.
1.2 STANDARDS
A. Comply with the highest erosion and sedimentation control standards, whether
Conservation District, Federal, State or local.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS - SILT FENCE (UNPAVED SURFACES)
A. Premanufactured silt fence shall be as manufactured by Exxon, using GTF-101S fabric;
Marifi, using 100X fabric; or equivalent. Post spacing shall not exceed 10'-0" feet.
2.2 MATERIALS (Paved Surfaces) - STRAW WATTLES
A. Straw wattles:
1. Straw-filled tube of flexible netting.
2. Machine-produced tube of compacted rice straw that are Certified Weed Free
Forage under California Food & Agriculture Code Sec. 5101-5205, by a
manufacturer whose principal business is wattle manufacturing.
3. The netting consisting of seamless, high-density polyethylene and ethyl vinyl
acetate and contains ultra-violet inhibitors.
B. Sandbags:
1. Woven polypropylene, polyethylene or polyamide fabric, in conformance with
the requirements in ASTM designation D3786, and ultraviolet stability
exceeding 70 percent in conformance with the requirements in ASTM
designation D4355.
2. Do not use burlap.
3. Each sand-filled bag shall have a minimum length of 18 inches, a minimum
width of 12 inches, a minimum thickness of 3 inches, and a minimum mass of
33 lbs. Bag dimensions are nominal, and may vary based on locally available
materials.
4. Sandbag fill material shall be non-cohesive, permeable material free from clay
and deleterious material.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 GENERAL
A. Install straw wattles according to the manufacturer's instructions and the details shown.
B. Place sandbags at a maximum spacing of 10 feet along the wattle. Use 2 sandbags at
points where ends of wattles overlap.
C. If, during construction, sediment needs to be removed from behind the wattles, remove
any accumulated sediment and place it in the backfill, only in undeveloped areas more
than 12 inches above the pipe or tanks.
PART 1: GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE OF WORK
Work to be performed under this Section refers to temporary and permanent vegetation covers at
the construction site and all areas disturbed during construction, including borrow areas. In
addition to the requirements of these Specifications, the Contractor will comply with all local
Conservation District laws, rules and regulations and all other Federal, State and local
requirements for erosion and sedimentation control.
Work will also consist of the placement and maintenance of sediment and erosion control
structures as shown on the Drawings. Work also includes the removal of accumulated sediment
from all structures and the removal of all structures at the completion of construction work.
1.02 STANDARDS
The Contractor shall comply with the highest erosion and sedimentation control standards,
whether Conservation District, Federal, State or local. If the Contractor is in doubt as to the
applicable standard, he shall notify the Engineer and comply with the Engineer's directions.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS - GENERAL
All materials such as seeds and mulch shall conform to the Specifications of the Conservation
District and all other applicable Federal, State and local requirements.
Premanufactured silt fence shall be as manufactured by Exxon, using GTF-101S fabric; Marifi,
using 100X fabric; or equivalent. Post spacing shall not exceed 10'-0" feet.
Temporary mulch shall be loose hay or straw, paper or biodegradable erosion control blanket as
manufactured by American Excelsior Company, or equal.

PART 3: EXECUTION
3.01 GENERAL
Permanent vegetation cover shall be in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local
requirements.
Silt fence shall be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and the details shown
on the Drawings. Stakes shall be placed on the downhill side of the fence. The bottom of the
fence shall extend into a 6" x 6" trench a minimum of 6 inches. The trench shall be backfilled
and compacted to prevent washout under the fence.
If, during construction, sediment needs to be removed from behind the silt fence, the Contractor
will, at the direction of the Engineer, remove any accumulated sediment and place it in the
backfill, only in undeveloped areas more than 12 inches above the pipe or tank.
Temporary mulch shall be placed over all areas disturbed by pipe, tank and chambers
construction. If erosion control blanket is not utilized the Contractor shall anchor the mulch in
such a way as to prevent it from being dislodged until permanent seeding and mulching
operations take place.

SECTION 01 89 13 - SITE PREPARATION AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 PROTECTION
A. Protect existing trees, shrubs and bushes outside the clearing limits and temporary
easement from damage.
1.2 REQUIREMENTS OF REGULATORY AGENCIES
A. Comply with State and local code requirements when disposing of trees, shrubs and
all other materials.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
A. Furnish all materials and equipment required to complete all clearing and grubbing.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 CLEARING AND GRUBBING
A. Clear and grub the minimum area to furnish space for construction operations.
B. Remove trees, down timber, shrubs, bushes, vines, roots, stumps, undergrowth,
rubbish, paving materials, debris and all other objectionable materials within the limits
of clearing and grubbing and temporary easements unless the easements or Drawings
require the material to be given to the Engineer or Owner.
3.2 DISPOSAL
A. Do not burn logs, stumps, roots, cuttings and other material on the site.
B. Dispose of all materials obtained as a result of the clearing and grubbing operations in
accordance with the requirements of the applicable governing agencies.
C. Dispose of the resultant chips of brush materials in an approved location.
