Drive Gear Replacement Components for
Polychem Chain and Flight Equipment
Proposal
The City of St. Cloud, Minnesota is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors for drive gear
components for a Poly Chem chain and flight system for a wastewater scum well
skimmer.
Background Information
The original Polychem scum skimmer drive system, manufactured by Brentwood
industries, was installed in 1974 at the St. Cloud Nutrient, Energy, and Water (NEW)
Recovery Facility. This skimmer drive gear system is the divert fats, oils, and greases, FOG
and scum from primary tanks from the 10 million gallons per day, MGD, (2025 average
flow) primary effluent flow to the scum ejectors for further solids processing in the
anerobic digesters.

15 FT Long x 8 FT Wide x 3 FT AWD, 3 Shaft System
Planned equipment needs:
SEW Euro drive Helical Bevel Gear box (DIN-ISO) with integral mount SEW Motor
Drive Unit output shat must be 304 SS
11T Nylon Sprocket mounted to 304 SS Shear Pin Hub
Aluminum shear pins
304 SS drive base plate and drive chain guard
Limit Switch, DPDT, Cutler Hammer NEMA 4X, SS arm
System must include 316 SS anchors with adhesives and dispenser
DAP shipping terms

Proposals will be accepted through Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM(CST) and are

Vendor Selection Process
Proposals will be evaluated based on qualifications and experience of the
vendor/supplier, the anticipated cost of services, and other applicable factors (see
below).
Selection criteria shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following factors:
1. Related professional experience, specific project responsibility and availability
of key personnel assigned to the project
2. Vendor/supplier recent experience in the provision of comparable wastewater
Polychem chain and flight systems and design services including references
3. Current lead-times
4. Anticipated cost
As the contracting authority, the City of St. Cloud shall make the final decision concerning
vendor selection. The City reserves the right to negotiate professional services from the
selected consultant(s) as deemed necessary to fulfill the complete project intent. The
City reserves the right to terminate the contract and delete all remaining work tasks at its
discretion.

Additional Information
Request for site visit or submittal of questions in writing, shall be directed to the
Wastewater Services Manager by February 6, 2026. A written response to all written
questions will be provided to all interested firms and posted on city website
