One-Two Sentences
North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is seeking an experienced and innovative design team to lead a comprehensive renovation project for the University Theater located in the Farrison-Newton Building. This ambitious endeavor aims to transform the existing facilities into a state-of-the-art theater that will not only enhance the university's artistic offerings but also provide a versatile space for a variety of performances and events. The renovation project will encompass the following key areas: 1. Theater Renovation: o Complete overhaul of the 264-seat University Theater to improve audience experience and acoustics. o Upgrade of stage lighting and control systems to modern standards. 2. Adjacent Rooms and Support Spaces: o Renovation of all adjacent rooms used for rehearsals, dressing/undressing, and other support functions. o Expansion and modernization of the carpentry and fabrication shop to support production needs. 3. Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Upgrades: o Comprehensive HVAC systems upgrades to ensure optimal climate control and energy efficiency. o Electrical system enhancements to support advanced lighting, audio-visual, and production equipment. o Integration of state-of-the-art audio-visual systems for superior performance quality and audience engagement. 4. Security and Code Compliance: o Implementation of modern security measures to ensure the safety of performers, staff, and audiences. o Addressing all code-related items to ensure the theater meets current building regulations and standards.
