Description

CJIS Division is currently conducting market research on Near Infared (NIR) iris cameras capable of dual iris capture. The CJIS Division is interested in the following types of devices; (1) NIR camera devices for dual iris biometric collection and (2) NIR iris camera devices and systems capable of mobile iris biometric collection. All NIR iris camera systems need to support the interchange of iris biometric images between government entities. The most important considerations for all NIR iris cameras revolve around conformance to standards that ensure compatibility/interoperability with other biometric recognition systems and retention of imagery in standard formats to enable future system improvements. The NIR iris cameras must be able to integrate to an existing live scan terminal that utilizes software which captures data and packages it in a transaction that conforms to the current FBI Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS). The NIR camera should have the capability to perform dual iris capture of right and left irises as well as provide the capability to accommodate (missing) and uncapturable (bandaged eyes) irises.
