This project includes, but is not necessarily limited to:

Installation of mass notifications systems including, but not limited to, outdoor warning and tsunami alerting systems.

Consultant will be responsible for the tasks identified below (not an all-inclusive list):

  • 1. Meet with City representatives in Valdez to understand project needs
  • 2. Host project coordination meetings as needed (Weekly, monthly, etc.)
  • 3. Attend 3 public meetings providing information to the community on the system
  • 4. Provide modeling showing coverages
  • 5. Provide specifications for all equipment to be used
  • 6. Provide complete system design including all necessary drawings and
  • specifications and related technical disciplines.
  • a. Design drawings will be provided at 35%, 65%, and 100%
  • 7. Provide progress cost estimates
  • 8. Furnish and install all materials and equipment necessary for a fully functioning
  • mass notification system.
  • a. Work to be completed by licensed disciplined trades where applicable
  • b. Compliance with all local, state and federal labor laws
  • c. Contractor to be responsible for all project management & coordination.

The City expects a turn-key design and installation.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 4pm local time on Friday February 21, 2025.

Request should identify all email addresses needing access to the file share. Failure to request access in advance may disqualify a firm’s proposal. Access can be requested well in advance of the deadline.
The bids will be publicly opened and read at that time.

Bid documents may also be downloaded from the links below. Bidders are encouraged to download, fill out, and return the Request for Addendum / Plan Holders List form located at the link listed below to ensure receipt of any addendum issued for this project.

Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid is required.

The City reserves the right to waive any irregularities or informalities in a bid and to reject any and all bids without cause.

Current minimum prevailing wage rates as published by the Alaska Department of Labor must be paid if required by law.

Requirements of the Alaska Employment Preference (AS 36.10) must be met.

The City of Valdez encourages disadvantaged, minority and women-owned firms to respond and is available to assist said firms in learning how to do business with the City.

The City of Valdez “ Standard Specifications and Standard Details ” shall be used.
