| Line Item #1 -8 Cubic Yard Slant Front Loader Refuse Containers (8ea) |
Purpose: The City of Columbus, Department pf Recreation and Parks, Division of Parks
Maintenance intends to purchase 8 (eight) each 8-Cubic Yard Slant Front Loader Refuse
Containers, 12 each replacement lids, and 6 each replacement rods according to the
specifications below.
Online Bidding Instructions: Bidders are requested to quote firm or fixed prices on the
corresponding line item(s) only. Within the "Comment" section of each line bidders are
requested to provide the make, model and manufactured year of the unit quoted. It is understood
that all parts that may not be specifically mentioned must be included to make the unit
operational and complete. Note: Dumpsters to come with lids and rods. Lids and rods included
on this RFQ are for future replacement needs. Bid will not be split, the overall lowest bid will be
awarded. Awarded vendor must be registered with the Ohio Secretary of State.
Product Specifications:
Line Item #1 -8 Cubic Yard Slant Front Loader Refuse Containers (8ea)
Container: The container is an eight (8) cubic yard front loader refuse container, and any
container bid shall conform fully to the specifications of this bid.
Capacity: All refuse containers shall be eight (8) cubic yards, plus or minus 0.2 cubic yards (+/-
0.2 c.y.).
Width: All refuse containers in approximately seventy-two (72") inches in width, suitable for
emptying by front loading container trucks.
Depth: All refuse containers have an approximate depth of six-foot eight -inches (6'-8").
Design of Container: The container shall be slanted upward from the front opening of the
container.
Height - Front Opening of Container: The front opening of container shall not exceed forty-
eight (48") inches from the floor
.
Height - Rear of Container: The height at the rear of the container is approximately six-foot
one-inch (6'-1").
Steel Body Construction: The walls of the container shall be constructed of a minimum of
twelve (12) gauge steel.
Sleeves or Collection Pockets: The sleeves or collection pockets shall be constructed of three-
sixteenths (3/16") seven (7) gauge steel or thicker, and must be reinforced with gussets of a
minimum of ten (10) gauge steel.
Bump Pads & Floor: The bump pads and floor shall be a minimum of ten (10) gauge steel and
designed to prevent any damage to the vehicle (no sharp edges).
Skids: The skids shall be constructed of a minimum of ten (10) gauge steel.
Interior Walls / Leak Proof: The container shall be leak proof and the interior walls smooth,
without interior projections or rough seams, so as not to interfere with it being emptied. Drain
plug must be located in the rear of the container
Welded Construction: The walls, floor, lift sleeves or collection pockets, skids and gussets of
the container's steel body will be welded. The welding of the body joints will be done in such a
way as to make the container leak proof and ensure the physical integrity of the container
through normal use, with a minimum of one (1) refuse collection/per week.
Primer: a corrosion resistant base coat primer shall be applied to all surfaces of the container;
and
Paint: a water based green paint will be applied to all surfaces. Paint shall be Sherwin Williams,
"Dark Hunter Green" color (SW0041), or its equivalent quality and shade; and
Marking and Identification:
Lettering: The four-inch (4") high letters "C O C" (for City of Columbus) must be welded into
the far left front of the box just under the lid.
Serial Number: Each container shall have a serial number welded into the box in four-inch (4")
high letters immediately to the right of the "C O C" weld described above. The City of Columbus
will utilize the serial numbering sequence that the Vendor currently has in place. The serial
numbers assigned to each container by the Vendor do not need to be verified by the City. If the
vendor does not use serial numbers, the City of Columbus will provide a starting serial number
for each order.
No Duplicate Serial Number(s): The supplier may not use any duplicate serial numbers at any
time, on new containers or replacement containers. Before any replacement containers are
manufactured as part of the warranty process, the supplier will verify the serial numbers to be
used.
Lid Construction: The lid(s) shall be constructed of single-walled or better linear medium
density polyethylene plastic molded with an ultraviolet stabilizer.
Split-Lid Construction: Lid construction is a split-lid comprised of two pieces
(2 pcs.) per container
Reinforced: Lid(s) shall be reinforced and shall not have any sharp edges; and
Hinges & Handles: Lids shall be hinged and attached to a metal rod that runs the width of the
dumpster and allows the lids to be swing upwards to open and have handles molded at the front
of the container to allow ease in opening.

Non-Interference with Emptying of Container: Lid(s) shall not interfere with the emptying of
the container.
Container Exterior: The exterior of the container shall be free of cracks, holes or jagged edges.
Overall Design/Spillage Prevention: The container's overall design shall prevent spillage
during both storage and collection.
Finish, Paint, Color & Sealant: All containers surfaces shall be finished (i.e.: ground, cleaned
& prepped) and free of unprotected sharp edges. In addition, the following requirements are to be
adhered to:

Warranty: The equipment specified herein shall be covered by the manufacturer's warranty at
no additional charge. Bidders shall submit warranty on a separate sheet attached to the bid
proposal.
Purchase Order: A written purchase order will be established by the Director of Recreation and
Parks and awarded to the successful bidder in accordance with City Standard Terms and
Conditions.
Delivery Terms: The successful bidder assumes the responsibility of transportation and
insurance for complete unit(s) while in transport and until accepted by the City of Columbus.
The completed unit(s) must be delivered and unloaded to the City of Columbus, Maintenance
Operations Complex, 1533 Alum Industrial Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43209 for final inspection and
acceptance within 30 days from the date of the written purchase order and award.
The City of Columbus, Parks Maintenance shall be notified no less than twenty four (24) hours
before actual delivery of the containers. Contact Taylor Glynn or designee (614) 645-3390
twenty four (24) hours in advance. Delivery can be made Monday through Friday 7:00 AM -
2:30 PM (local time), except on a City of Columbus recognized holiday. Delivery shall be F.O.B
destination prepaid and allowed.
Invoice: The invoice shall show the City Purchase Order number, a brief description
identifying the item, and the total amount. Invoice shall be mailed to the address on the Purchase
Order.
