Death Penalty Mental Health Consultant

Review and update DPA Mental Health Manual as needed by reviewing existing manual. Review other resources and materials related to death penalty representation. Revise table of contents and draft chapters as needed. Act as editor for chapters drafted by other authors. Lead case reviews and consultation with criminal defense death penalty teams. Review case review forms, social history and other documents. Develop agenda for case review working with the lead attorney and supervising attorney for the case. Facilitate cases reviews with capital teams and other participants. Each case review will consist of a 24-hour meeting. The participants of the case reviews will be identified by DPA. Logistics for case reviews will be provided by DPA. The majority of case reviews will be in Frankfort or Lexington with some travel to other field offices. Assist with DPA mental health training by providing recommendations for training, participate in planning discussions around trainings, and assist with death penalty regional and distance learning trainings of DPA attorneys, mitigation specialists, and other designated DPA staff
