ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, sealed bids for a lump sum
contract are invited for the following work:
REHABILITATION CENTER PLAYGROUND RENOVATION
Project Number 906017.01
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This project will remodel and upgrade the playground area at the Rehabilitation
Center, totaling approximately 13,000 square feet.
The scope of work includes the demolition of existing gates, fences, playground equipment, and
curbs; tree removal; grading the field to maintain a maximum of two-percent grade throughout the
playground; installation of new playground equipment, resilient flooring, shade structures,
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant concrete ramps, concrete paving, benches, and
play sand; and additional trees and plants. Utilities will be relocated to avoid conflicts with the new
equipment installation. The playground equipment will be purchased by the Intervention Program
and will be received and installed by the Contractor.
The plans depict the following alternates:
Alternate 1: Add to scope, all irrigation and all planting, see Sheet L2.01 and L3.01.
Alternate 2: Add to scope, decorative interior steel fence and footing, see Sheet L1.01, item
(F-1).
Alternate 3: Add to scope, low railing and footing, item (F-3).
Alternate 4: Installation of 4'-0" high black vinyl coated 1" mesh chain link fencing (F-2) AND
GATE (G-3), in lieu of decorative interior steel fence (F-1).
Alternate 5: Add to scope, replace existing chain link perimeter fencing with new 6' high chain
link (F-3) and gate (G-4).
Alternate 6: Add to scope, domestic cold water to water table equipment and hose bib per
Sheet P1.01.
Alternate 7: Add to scope, CMU wall at toy storage and hose bib, see items (W-1) and (SA-1)
on L1.00.
Alternate 8: Add to scope of purchase and install of play equipment including footings, from
"Goric Marketing Group" items (5A, 5B, 5C).
Alternate 9: Add to scope of purchase and install of play equipment including footings, from
"Percussion Play" items (3A, 3B, 3C, 3D).
Alternate 10: Add to scope of entrance gate, pilasters, and donor dedication sign, item (G-2).
Alternate 11: Add to scope, installation and concrete footings for shade structure over the
sand/water area. (1-R).
Alternate 12: Add to scope, installation and concrete footings of play items (1-D) and (1-E).
Refer to Sheet L1.00 for item descriptions.

The estimated construction cost is $1,467,000.

MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE & JOB WALK: A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and Mandatory
Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted on August 27, 2026. Only bidders who participate in both the
Conference and the Job Walk, in their entirety, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime
contractors.
Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference via ZOOM: The mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be
conducted via ZOOM and shall begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Participants must log onto the ZOOM
meeting at or before 10:00 a.m. (See ZOOM meeting instruction below.) Persons logging in later
than said time will not be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors.

Mandatory Site Visit: The mandatory Job Walk will be conducted at the project site and shall
begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. Participants shall meet at 1000 Veteran Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90095 at
or before 1:00 p.m. Persons arriving later than said time will not be allowed to bid on the Project as
prime contractors. Refer to the UCLA Campus Map at https://map.ucla.edu/). For further

NOTE: Bidders are advised that parking may be difficult. Bidders should allow ample time
to drive to the above location in heavy traffic, find a parking space, walk to the
designated Meeting Room prior to the required time. It is currently anticipated that
the Site Visit will last at least 2 hours.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current
and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid:
B License (General Building)
and
C-27 License (Landscaping Contractor)
PREQUALIFICATION: To be allowed to submit a bid, Bidders must have the minimum experience set forth
in the Prequalification Questionnaire contained in the Bidding Documents and posted on the UCLA
Online Planroom website. Bidder's completed Prequalification Questionnaire must be received at
the above-listed University Contracts Administration office in a sealed envelope, or uploaded to the
UCLA Online Planroom website, no later than:
3:00 p.m., September 3, 2026

Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1.

This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site,
including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply
with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
