Overview

Summary

Do you know an older adult who could benefit from having access to a hot meal delivered to their home? Do you serve older adults and want to provide nutritious and community appropriate meals to these program participants? Do you have the capacity to serve home delivered meals that meet federal, state and local food standards to a large swath of Washington County? If you answered yes to any of the above questions then we want to hear from you. We are seeking home delivered meal program proposals from community organizations, senior centers and/or others that work with the older adult population in Washington County.

Our hope is to serve as many older adults as funding allows and we are seeking new ways of connecting with older adults we may not have previously served. This is where your organization comes in. Please let us know your ideas and plans for providing home delivered meals to older adults from varying communities throughout Washington County. Let us know other partners you may collaborate with through funding, shared kitchen space, etc.

Background

For 10 years prior to 2020, Washington County had one meal provider and it was required that they provide both congregate meals and home delivered meals. In requiring an organization to have the ability to do both congregate and home delivered meals in previous Requests for Proposals (RFP), it limited the community agencies who could submit proposals. In 2020, it was decided to break out the nutrition RFP into two separate areas (Congregate and Home Delivered Meals) to allow for more variety in the community organizations who would apply. After our last Home Delivered Meal RFP, we ended up with one organization who was able to serve the entirety of Washington County. Our hope in this RFP is to find one or more organizations who can continue to serve home delivered meals to the entirety of Washington County.
