Questions and Answers:
Q1: Is there a need for a 4-wheel drive?
A1: Yes. Four‑wheel drive improves safety when loading and unloading the combine from a trailer by providing better traction and control. Additionally, one of our locations has hilly, sandy terrain that makes harvesting difficult without four‑wheel drive.
Q2: Is there a need for a straw chopper?
A2: No.
Q3: Is a header required for this combine configuration?
A3: Yes. We require a 60-inch header to accommodate harvesting two rows with our current row spacing. Only a 60-inch draper head with a quick‑attach throat is compatible with this combine configuration.
Q4: Is a Grain Gauge / HarvestMaster system required for this solicitation?
A4: Yes. The weigh system allows weight and moisture data to be collected at harvest without needing to collect and process whole‑plot samples. This reduces post‑harvest processing, saves time, and improves operational efficiency. It also helps reduce errors during harvest by continuously tracking data throughout the field.
Q5: I noticed that there is no combine head or data collection unit included. The combine must have these in order to operate correctly. I also noticed there is nothing in the specifications regarding training or freight. Is it safe to assume that this will need to be included?
A5: We are looking for a “60"draper head with quick attach throat” and a “Harvestmaster H2 Classic or ALMACO D1 Data collection” system or equivalent. Additionaly we need shipping to our location as well as on-site training.
