The TOWN OF CHARLTON, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Prequalified General Contractors and Filed Sub Bid Contractors for the Charlton Fire Sub Station at 4 Oxford Road, Charlton, MA 01507 in Charlton, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by CONTEXT ARCHITECTURE. The project includes construction of a new 2 story fire substation approximately 13,000 SF, located at 4 Oxford Road, Chalton, MA. The new substation contains four (4) bays, administration offices and living quarters. The structure will consist of steel and wood framing structure with wood trusses for roof support This bid is open to Prequalified General Contractors and Filed Sub-Bid Contractors only, except Elevators Filed Sub Bid Category which is open to all the Bidders. Please see the list of Prequalified General Contractors and Filed Sub-Bid Contractors attached as part of the Project Manual.
The work is estimated to cost $15,000,000 with five alternates.
Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H inclusive.
General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work -- General Building Construction and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime Update Statement (Form CQ 3).
General Bids will be received until January 17th, 2025, at 04:00 PM and publicly opened, forthwith online. Questions from General Contractors are due by January 8th, 2025, at 04:00 PM. Filed Sub-bids for the trades listed below will be received until December 20th, 2024, at 04:00 PM and publicly opened, forthwith online. Questions from the Sub-bidders are due December 12th, 2024, at 04:00 PM.
Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed below and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Sub-Bidder’s Update Statement.

The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder, as further set forth in the Instructions to Bidders and Electronic Bidding Instructions.
The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive any informalities, to accept or reject, in whole or in part any or all bids, or take whatever other action that may be deemed by the Town to be in the best interest of the Town.
