Invitation to Bid
RFSB No. 226041-Hatch Hill Daily Cover Soil and Gravel
The City of Augusta will accept sealed bids for DAILY COVER/GRAVEL SOILS delivered to the
Hatch Hill Landfill located on Rte. 105 in Augusta, Maine. Bids will be accepted at Development
Services, City Center, 16 Cony Street, Augusta, Maine 04330, no later than 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 9,
2026, at which time they will be publicly opened. No bids will be accepted after the above stated time
and date.
Bidders will be required to complete the attached quotation form and shall submit such form in a plain,
sealed envelope with the name of the bidder in the upper left-hand corner and mark the envelope “RFSB
No. 226041DAILY COVER/GRAVEL SOILS delivered to the Hatch Hill Landfill in Augusta,
Maine” prior to the date and hour specified for bid opening. Telephone, telegraph, or facsimile bids will
not be accepted.
It is anticipated that the City will need approximately 200 yards of daily cover (sandy soil) per week with
an approximate estimate of 10,000 yards a year as well as 2000 yards of gravel a year. Delivery shall be
made on a mutually agreed upon schedule to meet the needs of the landfill operation.
It is the custom of the City of Augusta to pay its bills within 30 days following completion of work and
receipt of bills for all work covered by the contract. In submitting bids under attached specifications
bidders should take into consideration all discounts, both trade and time, allowed in accordance with the
above payment policy. All bidders should quote net prices, therefore, exclusive of all Federal Excise
Taxes. The City of Augusta reserves the right to waive all informalities in bids, to accept any bid, or any
portion thereof, or to reject any or all bids should it be deemed in its best interest to do so. Except as
otherwise required by law or as specifically provided to the contrary herein, the award of this bid shall be
governed by the City's purchasing ordinance.
