REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) FOR ADMINSTRATIVE LAW JUDGE SERVICES CONTRACT
Administrative Law Judge Contract– Summit County is currently accepting applications for an Administrative Law Judge to hear cases involving violations of the Snyderville Basin Development Code, Title 10, the Eastern Summit County Development Code, Title 11 and applications for variances, which were previously heard by the Board of Adjustment. The contract term will begin January 1, 2026, and will expire December 31, 2028, with the option to renew. This posting is for a newly created position. Summit County has an existing Administrative Law Judge position for all matters other than Titles 10 and 11 development code violations and variance applications.
This is a personal services contract and will be awarded to an individual attorney, rather than a law firm. The Administrative Law Judge contract is non-assignable.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a member in good standing of the Utah Bar and competent in the practice of administrative and land use law. Qualified Candidates shall be required to preside over all aspects of administrative proceedings, including hearings on variance applications, and issue timely written decisions as appropriate.
The contract pays $1,333 per month and no greater than $16,000 annually. Hearings are held one to two days per month for approximately two hours.
