Questions and responses for RFP: Sale of Apple MacBook Computers
1. I don’t see anywhere on the School District website that shows this RFP. Can you please let me
know where on the website it is located?
○ Please click on this link that will take you directly to the RFP on our district website
https://www.kirkwoodschools.org/community-alumni/rfprfq
2. Will you please get me a sample serial number from each of the 2 different model MacBook Air
laptops?
○ Student M1: C02HC0MFQ6L6
○ Staff M1: HXJN239A265F
3. Can you ballpark the ratio of students to staff using these laptops?
○ Lot 1: Are student devices approximately 385
○ Lot 2: Are staff devices approximately 760
4. Were any protective cases used on these laptops?
○ Student and staff devices were provided with plastic hard shells and protective sleeves
5. The RFP mentions that no missing charger deductions will be allowed. Can you share, though, if
you are planning to include any chargers?
○ We do plan to collect and provide chargers
6. Some schools experienced abnormally high breakage rates on the M1 bezels. Did Kirkwood
experience this in their fleet?
○ Kirkwood did observe some bezel damage on our M1 devices; however, we do not track bezel
cracks separately from display-related damage, as both are handled through the same repair
process. Bezel issues were a common form of damage in the fleet, and any identified cases
were repaired according to our standard procedures.
7. Are the devices available for inspection prior to bid submission deadline?
○ Unfortunately, these devices are still in use by staff and students and won't be available for
inspection before the RFP due date.
8. The RFP document says "Apple M1 (I-core) processor” in the description. Is it an M1 or Intel?
Please confirm.
○ To clarify, the devices included in this RFP are equipped with the Apple M1 Processor. They are
not intel based systems. The reference to 1-core in the description is intended to indicate the
processor class but these units specifically contain Apple’s M1.
